Steve Blackledge is a deputy director with U.S. PIRG. He provides guidance to state PIRG organizations on matters of policy, strategy, membership development and fundraising.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Blackledge spent five years as the policy director for CALPIRG, where his work led to new state-level policy reforms on issues including soaring prescription drug costs, post-Enron accounting scams, and protecting consumers from privacy invasions and identity theft. Prior to that, Mr. Blackledge was the first director of New Hampshire PIRG. He began his work for the PIRGs In Michigan and Illinois PIRG in 1991.
Mr. Blackledge has appeared on CSPAN and CNN, and has been quoted in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and numerous other newspapers and media outlets.
