Statement from Larry McNeely, Heath Care Advocate on the release of the Chairman’s Mark by Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus
“U.S. PIRG is pleased that Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) is moving forward with consideration of health reform, and has released his Chairman’s Mark, the plan health reform to be considered by the Senate Finance Committee next week. The delivery reforms contained in the mark lay out a clear path to achieving lower costs through by improving quality of care. While we had hoped to see a more robust public option in legislation, we will continue to work with the Senate to enact health reform that offers lower costs, consumer protections, and increased choice and competition in the insurance market.”
