Statement of U.S. PIRG and Environment America on Death of Longtime Leader of Center for Auto Safety

Joint Statement of Environment America and U.S. PIRG on the Death of Center for Auto Safety Executive Director Clarence M. Ditlow III

The statement can be attributed to Anna Aurilio, DC Office Director, Environment America and Edmund Mierzwinski, Consumer Program Director, USPIRG

“Consumers drive much safer cars that last a lot longer and pollute a lot less largely due to the 40 years of work of Clarence M. Ditlow III at the helm of the Center for Auto Safety. Our organizations are privileged to have worked beside him on numerous campaigns for cleaner and safer cars. He was not afraid to take on some of the most powerful corporations in the world, was successful in changing their ways and was cheerful while he did it. He will be missed but we will defend and build on his legacy.”

END

Note: We encourage you to watch this 15 minute video presentation by Clarence at the Breaking Through Power conference earlier this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of the publication of Ralph Nader’s Unsafe at Any Speed.
