“Today we applaud President Obama and his administration for proposing funding in his FY10 budget for new light rail projects in Los Angeles and Sacramento, and bus rapid transit transit in six other California cities.
“Light rail and bus rapid transit are essential to meeting California's growing transportation needs with less traffic congestion and less pollution.
“CALPIRG recently released a report, Connecting California, which highlighted many of these transit projects as key for improving mobility throughout California. And while today's announcement is good news for California, we hope that it is just the start of an increased commitment by Washington to finally build a more clean, efficient, and truly multi-modal transportation system.”
