Hold Federal Contractors Accountable for Paying Their Taxes

While we pay our fair share of taxes, private corporations that receive millions, sometimes billions, from the Pentagon and other federal agencies have left the public with a $7.5 billion dollar tab in unpaid taxes and employee withholdings. (Read the GAO Report here)

This month the Contracting and Tax Accountability Act will be taken up in Congress. It would permanently prevent companies with a history of tax delinquency or fraud from receiving major federal contracts. It’s common sense. But given the political influence of the contractors, it won’t pass without public pressure.

Urge Speaker Pelosi to put the bill up for a vote by signing the letter below.

Text of the letter:

Speaker Pelosi,

I am outraged that no permanent law bars corporations who engage in delinquent and fraudulent tax practices from receiving big new government contracts. I pay my taxes, and expect government contractors to do the same.

I respectfully request that you bring the Contracting and Tax Accountability Act to the floor of the House for a vote this April.

Sincerely,
