Ban The Use Of BPA
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine-disrupting chemical that mimics estrogen in the body.
Researchers have found links between the chemical and numerous health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer and metabolic disorders.
Use the form below to send a petition to Congress urging them to support a ban on the use of BPA in food and beverage containers.
We'll send a copy of the petition to 20 of the biggest companies in the packaged food industry that use BPA in their products.
PETITION TEXT:
Dear Member of Congress,
I urge you to support a ban on the use of the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) in food and beverage containers.
Even though the chemical is known to leach from packaging into food, BPA can be found in baby bottles, water bottles and food storage containers. It is used in epoxy resins that coat the lining of metal food cans, including infant formula cans that expose our kids to repeated doses.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) have introduced the Ban Poisonous Additives Act of 2009 (S. 593/H.R. 1523), which will ban the use of BPA.
I urge you to protect our health by supporting this bill.
Sincerely,
